Local leaders help make an ‘Impact’ at leadership conference in Visalia

Visalia Chamber’s Impact Leadership Conference breakout sessions feature local industry experts


VISALIA – David Carr inspired thousands of Fresno State football fans to believe in the power of hard work by leading the Bulldogs to victories over some of the best teams in college football and being the No. 1 draft pick in the NFL draft. Justin Patton inspires some of the most successful people in the world to find ways to improve and improve those within their organization.

But inspiration doesn’t have to come from a superstar athlete or a globetrotting leadership coach, it can come from within your own community, something the Visalia Chamber of Commerce understands and will highlight next month at its 2019 Impact Leadership Conference on March 21.

In addition to keynote speakers David Carr and Justin Patton, the Impact Leadership Conference will include a full day of breakout sessions that will cover topics from Aligning Mission and Values to Crisis Communications and Generational Diversity. Each of the breakout sessions will be presented by local industry experts.

Aligning Mission and Values to the Common Good of Your Community: Can a company’s mission and values lead to improving our community? Can a company still be competitive while serving the needs of the locals? This interactive workshop addresses these questions while exploring real challenges with aligning company values to the common good. This session will be led by moderator Jason LeFaive, (Seven Oaks Church) with panelists: Matt Ainley (4Creeks Inc), Brice Yocum (Tucoemas Federal Credit Union), and Dr. Shawn Fox (Fox Valley Family Dentistry).

10 Ways to Implement Design Thinking into Your Operation: Are you taking risks or are you afraid to fail? This session will look at the importance of learning from failure, giving yourself room to explore the unknown and the importance of optimism. This session will also explore the importance of empathy and understanding the hopes, dreams and pains of your customers and clients. The discussion will be led by Tom Price and Ryan Clark, Founders of Middlestate.

Emotional Intelligence: What is emotional intelligence and why should you care? This session will help you recognize and increase your emotional intelligence proficiency which will allow you to foster a better work environment and increase employee fulfillment and success in work and in life. Rose Lacey, Trainer at the COS Training Resource Center will lead this discussion.

The Psychology of First Impressions: This session will identify how first impressions can impact your personal and professional life, while identifying and discussing the seven fundamentals of first impressions and exploring how first impressions are formed. This breakout session will be led by Gia Kazarian, Leadership & Social Consultant, First Impressions Consulting West Coast.

Core Leadership Values: Every lead needs to understand their own core leadership values. This session will help you identify and share your personal leadership core values. The session will also discuss the best ways to sustain positive organizational culture through core value-driven policies and procedures. This session will be led by Stan A. Carrizosa Sr., Independent Contractor.

The Impact Leadership Conference was created with the goal of helping businesses increase the leadership potential within their employees. Leadership is important at all levels of a company and this conference, through keynote speakers and breakout sessions, will have information for employees that apply to every level of company leadership. This conference will provide insight, inspiration, industry trends and opportunities for networking for leaders, creators, start-ups, philanthropists, career advancers and recruiters alike.

The conference will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 21 at the Visalia Convention Center.
