TULARE – A donation in memory of a fallen K9 officer will help ensure his furry colleagues will be more protected in the future.

At the Dec. 18 Tulare City Council meeting, International Agri-Center CEO Jerry Sinift presented a $10,000 check to the Tulare Police Department in memory of K9 Officer Bane.

Officer Bane was gunned down in the line of duty on Dec. 9 following an attempted traffic stop that turned into a high-speed chase. Donations in his memory can be made to Paws for the Cause through the Tulare Police Department or to the Visalia Police Officer’s Foundation to help purchase ballistic vests for every K9 in Tulare County. Tulare Police Department officers and a representative from Paws for the Cause were on hand to accept the donation and presented Sinift and the International Agri-Center with a plaque in recognition of the donation.

“At the International Agri-Center board meeting held last week, there was a unanimous vote to donate $10,000 in memory of K9 Officer Bane. We would like to present this check for $10,000 to the Tulare Police Department Paws for the Cause Foundation,” said Sinift. “We want to see Tulare grow and prosper. Even though we are at the extreme end of Tulare, we are still part of this city, and want only what is best for our community.”

The International Agri-Center is an agriculture education focused 501(c)3 organization and home to World Ag Expo, Feb. 12-14, 2019, in Tulare, Calif. An estimated annual average of 100,000 individuals from 70 countries attend World Ag Expo each year. The largest annual agricultural show of its kind, World Ag Expo hosts 1,500 exhibitors displaying cutting-edge agricultural technology and equipment on 2.6 million square feet of exhibit space.

Donations to Paws for the Cause can be dropped off at the Tulare Police Department or Dan Freitas Electric, Inc. in Tulare.

Donations to the Visalia Police Officer’s Foundation can be made online through the Tulare Police Department Facebook page at www.facebook.com/tularepd.
